God, through His holy scriptures, has taught us about the history of the nation of Israel. Without proper knowledge of Israel’s history, you might feel “lost” or “confused” when reading certain passages from the old testament. It is important to always keep in mind the original audience (the northern kingdom Israel, the southern kingdom Judah, etc.) and the original context (warnings of Babylonian captivity, the promise of return from Babylonian captivity, etc.). It is my goal to persuade the reader that the prophecies spoken through Isaiah and Micah concerning “the last days” had an original fulfillment upon Israel’s return from Babylonian captivity, more than 500 years before the birth of Jesus Christ. In this book (“The Original Meaning of Isaiah 2 and Micah 4”), we’ll become familiar with old testament terminology. If you have access to YouTube, my YouTube channel is titled “Let’s Talk Bible Oroville” and I have created a video titled “Isaiah 2 and Micah 4” where I have reviewed this material and more on video. You may find it useful to watch that video and then re-read this book. The bible version which I will be quoting from in this book is the “King James Version.”

Humbling Yourself As A Child

“Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven.” – Matthew 18:4. Most children are easy to teach. Why? (1) They have a desire to learn something new and (2) they don’t have embedded within them preconceived ideas that will cause them to deny what you teach. Their faith is in whatever you say, believing it to be the truth. We must be careful to examine all teachings to see whether or not they are of the truth. We should be as innocent as children, but be mature in understanding (1 Corinthians 14:20). If the Bereans fact checked the apostle Paul and were considered noble for doing so (Acts 17:10-12), then we are well within our freedom in Christ to re-examine the tradition passed down concerning Isaiah 2 and Micah 4. Many people are convinced that they have the correct biblical perspective concerning this text, so they will reject any other perspective offered to them. Please don’t fall into that category. “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.” – Acts 17:11
